In light of the current fitnah, which by Allaah's leave many are put to trial. In it, Allaah clarifies for us and shows us via the fitnah the true colors of individuals. The fitnah exposes many, purifies others, yet rectifies some and then terrifies others. Nevertheless, there are individuals who are really put to trail during the fitnah. Individuals who make statements during the fitnah, that will eventually come back to haunt them. One such statement was made, by one of the brothers who instruct the people in some aspect of their deen or another, as well as deliver khutbah (henceforth places himself in a position of criticism for such statement): "Student fulan (who's name is irrelevant) is better than shaykh Muhammad Al-Madkhalee حفظه الله ورعاه من كل سوء ومكره .". His reasoning, as was mentioned, was due to what he considered to be that Shaykh Muhammad is upon error and is warned against and causing fitnah (or as he said). Therefore, in this current fitnah, student fulan is better than the shaykh, due to student fulan being on correct guidance and the shaykh upon error. Whether he understood it or not, his statement ..." better than" is a serious error and I advise him to recant and turn to Allaah in repentance, especially due to lack of concrete evidence of his claim. Henceforth, The following is my advice (with evidence) to my young brother who has been put to trial (may Allaah guide us and him)and to anyone who has been put to trial, with such a toxic, cantankerous and erroneous statement.
Ibn Asaakir [rahimahullaah] said: Know O, my brother! May Allaah grant us and you His Pleasure and make us from those who have awe and fear of Him as He should be feared. Indeed, the flesh of the scholars is poisonous and Allaah’s way of disclosing the hidden affairs of those who diminish their worth is well known. [Tabyeen Kadhib Al-Muftaree Fee Maa Nusiba Ilal-Imaam Abil Hasan Al-Ash’aree: page 29]
PIECES OF ADVICE:
1. THERE IS NO COMPARISON BETWEEN A SCHOLAR AND A NON SCHOLAR:
Allaah The Most High says: 9
Which translates to mean: Say: "Are those who know equal to those who know not?"
Which translates to mean: "Indeed those who truly fear Allaah are the scholars."
Shaykh Bin Baaz رحمه الله said about this ayah: "The complete fear, their fear is more complete from the fear of other than them and all the believers fear Allaah. Every Muslim fears Allaah, however, it varies and is not the fear of the scholars of insight, the scholars of truth, the scholars of the shar'iah. The scholars fear is not similar to the general Muslims. Rather it is more complete, greater."
(source:binbaz.org.sa)
As the shaykh pointed out, based on Allaah's speech. There is no comparison between a scholar and a non-scholar. A scholar's fear of Allaah is more complete and greater, which translates to mean the scholar is much better than a non-scholar, including student fulan(Who is not even a graduate)!
2. AFTER THE PROPHETS AND MESSENGERS, THERE IS NO ONE BETTER IN SPEECH THAN THE SCHOLARS(which includes the first three generations), ESPECIALLY A NON-SCHOLAR:
Allaah The Most High Says: ...
Which translates to mean: "And who is BETTER in speech, than the one who calls to Allaah."
So as indicated by the above verse, there is no one better in speech than those who call to Allaah. The true callers to Allaah are the Prophets and Messengers, thereafter the scholars. Allaah said that there is no one better than them. The key here in Allaah's speech is: "Who is better..." which is a negation of the fact, that there is no one better than the callers to Allaah, which in our times in essence are the scholars first and foremost. The scholars carry the weight of the fardh kifayyah of calling to Allaah. In contrast to the statement of our confused brother, "Student Fulan(Who is not even a graduate) is better than Shaykh Muhammad حفظه الله ورعاه من كل سوء ومكره .".
3. THE SCHOLARS ARE THE INHERITORS OF THE PROPHETS AND MESSENGERS:
The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: ” إن العلماء ورثة الأنبياء وإن الأنبياء لم يورِّثوا دينارًا ولا درهمًا، إنَّما ورَّثوا العلم،فمن أخذَه أخذ بحظٍّ وافر”. روى أبو داود والترمذي وابن ماجه وابن حبان في صحيحه وغيرهم
"The scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets. They do not inherit dinaar or dirhaam, rather they inherit the knowledge. Those who take it have taken a great fortune."
Reported by Abu Dawuud and At-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah and Ibn Hibban in his Sahih and other than them.
The above also indicates that the scholars are far superior to the non-scholar. Again I ask you, how is student fulan(Who is not even a graduate) better than Shaykh Muhammad Al-Madkhalee
4. THE SCHOLARS ARE RAISED LEVELS ABOVE THE NON-SCHOLAR:
Allaah says
Which translates to mean: "Allah will raise in degree those of you who believe, and those who have been granted knowledge."
Have not the scholars been given knowledge which is even indicated in their title العلماء? Henceforth, they are raised in levels above the people by Allaah. So I ask you "O my brother,"Is Student fulan(Who is not even a graduate) still better than Shaykh Muhammad?!"
5. THE SCHOLARS HAVE AN EXCELLENCE OVER THE NON-SCHOLAR:
The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “The virtue of the scholar over the worshipper is like my excellence over the least of you. Verily, Allah, his angels, the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth, even the ant in his hole and the fish, send blessings upon the one who teaches people virtue.”

So I ask you again, my brother: "How is student fulan(who is not even a graduate), better than Ash-Shaykh Muhammad Al-Madkhalee حفظه الله ورعاه من كل سوء ومكره the major scholar from among the scholars?!"
In conclusion,
I advise my younger brother specifically and young brothers in general. Don't cast yourself headlong into the fitnah. Continue to study your deen and leave the affair of this fitnah to the scholars and those who are clear on the matters and who have firmness in their deen. There is much more that could be said, but we suffice ourselves with these pieces of advice to our brother and all else who are afflicted by the fitnah. We ask Allaah to make us and him(specifically) to benefit by way of it and the youth in general.
As Salaamu aaykum,
Your brother and elder Abu 'AbdilHaadee Khaleel Davis
