OVERVIEW OF WORKBOOK NO.1: 
In this workbook (No.1) we focus on assisting the non-Muslim community, as well as the Muslim community whose youth may have succumbed and acquiesced to the problems of gangs and violence. Subsequent workbooks (Two and Three ) will follow providing practical solutions, to the epidemic of drugs and murder among the youth, Allaah willing. Workbook No.1 provides practical solutions and takes a pedagogical(elementary and practical approach) on educating those responsible for these youth. It begins with an invitation to understanding the basic fundamentals of Islaam based on the Qur'an, Sunnah (Prophetic way) and methodology of the Salaf. Thereafter, it enters into the topic of gangs by explaining the problem, cause and the solution to this problem. Henceforth, the terms Old Solutions New Strategies used in the title.


Old Solutions: Old(but relevant) Solutions refers to that divine knowledge sent down by Allaah to His final Prophet and Messenger Muhammad(may Allaah's peace and blessings be upon him), in which is the ultimate solution to every ill. If we are looking to solve the evil and vile disease of crime and how it affects our youth, especially in urban communities. We need to explore these old (but relevant)solutions sent down from on high, by The Most High as a guidance to mankind.

The author understands, that in order to understand and confront the ills that our youth are confronted with daily, it will take a pedagogical approach that clarifies and uproot the ills that the youth are confronted with. Thereafter, provide well thought out strategies and practical application from a divine source and prophetic guidance. Practical, well thought out and proven strategies, that have been utilized of old and in which the author has utilized for over two decades and a half in grassroots efforts. These strategies have been effective in assisting our youth in reforming their unrighteous, unruly, and unbecoming (learned) behaviors.  

New Strategies: Refers to strategies that are new among non-Muslims, in which have been ignored, due to negative press and sensationalism within the media about Islaam and Muslims. This PDF guide is an attempt to provide valuable solutions to the youth problems and a plea for educators, grassroots organizations, government officials, community leaders and parents to look at and or turn to the strategies that Islaam has to offer. In the fight to regain the youth from the stronghold of the shaytan (devil) and his adversaries among mankind, it is also important for the non-Muslims to come to grips that within the past 10 years (2008-2018), more youth have turned towards Islaam, and this fact should not be ignored.

The author can attest that many youths have come to Islam, but with mental and emotional scars and wounds from the battlefield(of street life), in which they have left behind. Reality confirms that the youth are in need of these new strategies, in order to heal themselves and move forward. What is there to lose, except more lives?! The youth who are ignorant of their divine purpose in life, are unable to live a pure and wholesome quality of life. Islam has proven in general over the centuries and the author has demonstrated specifically in our times, that these insightful strategies work. If Allaah wills.
