Turning Back From Mistakes by Taking an Example of the Story of A Great Shaykh: THE STORY OF THE TRANSFORMATION OF SHAYKH KHALIL HARRAS رحمه الله
الشيخ محمد أمان الجامي (رحمه الله) في شرحه للعقيدة الواسطية قال
The Shaykh (and defender of the Sunnah) Muhamnad Amaan Al-Jaamee رحمه الله said in his (audio) explanation of Al-Aqeedatil Waasitiyyah (of Shaykhul Islaam ibn Taymiyyah
الشيخ محمد خليل هراس كان رجلاً من علماء الأزهر ، وكان أشعرياً صوفياً فيلسوفاً
"The Shaykh Muhammad Khaleel Harraas رحمه الله was a man from the scholars of Al-Azhar University and was an Ash'ari Sufi philosopher.
ولما أراد أن يقدم رسالة الماجستير أو الدكتوراة ، طلبوا منه أن يؤلف كتاباً يرد به على شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية رحمه الله تعالى
When he wanted to submit a treatise for a masters or doctorate, they asked him to write a book refuting Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah رحمه الله
So he gathered the books of Ibn Taymiyyah in order to refute him. As he took (to) his reading and weighed it ( through analysis) for three months, the truth was clarified for him in the creed (of the Salaf). Therefore he returned back from the Ash'ariyyah(creed), and he stuck to Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa'ah and believed with their correct belief. Then he switched his treatise to the creed of Ibn Taymiyyah As-Salafi, rather than refuting him."
