Question: As Salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. May Allaah bless you our shaykh. What is your advice for those living in the West (America), in giving da'wah to Allaah. To the Muslim, and non-Muslim(alike)?
Response:
The Shaykh, Shaykh Abu Hamzah Mawafiq Al-'Iraaqi(1) حفظه الله و رعاه advised that those living in the West, it is upon them to fear Allaah first and to improve themselves from the fitnah of (destructive) الشهوات desires and from the fitnah of doubts الشبهات.
(As for) the desires، indeed the person improves himself from it, with the deen As-Saheeh, and with taking the worship of Allaah, inwardly and outwardly, and the strengthening of Imaan; which (helps)transcend the self from the fitnah of desires.
As for the fitnah of الشبهات doubts (its reform), indeed is with the ilm Ash-Shari' established in the Book of Allaah and Sunnah of His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم. My advice(also) for them (as it relates to the non-Muslims), is that they establish the da'wah with wisdom, and good admonishment, and with speech that is better.
Indeed the call to Allaah is from the most virtuous (ways) of closeness (to Allaah) after Tawheed.
Taking (from) the statement of Allaah(which translates to mean):
"And who is better in speech than he who calls to Allaah..." (2)
And the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said to 'Ali:
"By Allah, were Allah to guide a single man through you it would be better for you than a herd of red camels.”(3)
The person in the society (of America) if he's able, he gives da'wah and if he's able he inseminate (the seed of da'wah), and the guidance and tawfeeq is with Allaah aza wa jaal. As for the da'wah between the Muslimeen. It is upon the person gentleness, and gentleness in his da'wah, and that you are gentle with your brothers.
Taking from the Speech of Allaah (which translates to mean):
"Go, to Firun, verily, he has transgressed and speak to him gently, perhaps he may accept admonition or fear (Allaah)."(4)
