Question posed and translated by:
Abu Yusuf Khaleefah
Q2: What is the importance of
Tawheed and the Sunnah in the life of the Muslim?
A: The best way as is well-known, which
is by taking (the knowledge of both of them directly) from the mouths of the
Ulamaa, receiving the knowledge from them and benefiting from them. Also (to
add to that) reading the books of Ahlus-Sunnah, specifically the books of
Shaykhil-Islaam Muhammad Ibn Abdil-Wahhaab (rahimahullah) for the beginners.
Indeed they are tremendous and beneficial books and they consist of the following
matters:
- The first matter: The books are simple and easily (attainable) in the world.
- The second matter: The books are comprehensive and are based upon a tremendous foundation in the Sunnah and Tawheed.
- The third matter: The abundance of explanations for them which are widespread amongst the Ulamaa.
- The fourth matter: They comprise of very important matters from the angle of the Islaamic Creed and the Prophetic Sunnah.
Indeed
the books of Shaykhil-Islaam Muhammad Ibn Abdul-Wahab (rahimahullah) are
important and beneficial books. Also (to be mentioned), we don't do without the
books of Shaykhil-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah and Shaykhil-Islaam Ibn Qayyim
al-Jawziyyah (rahimahumullah) and likewise the rest of the books of the Salaf.
However, the student of knowledge should first benefit from the book of
Shaykhil-Islaam Muhammad Ibn Abdil-Wahhaab (rahimahullah). If there are
scholars amongst them (in their lands) and they turn back to them and receive
(knowledge) from them, then all praise is due to Allaah. If not, then they (should)
migrate to the scholars and travel to them to receive knowledge from them, for
indeed the acquisition of knowledge is by learning (and seeking it).
