Means of Victory for the Ummah, by Shaykh Abu 'Abdul-A'laa Khaalid 'Uthmaan al-Misree (hafidhahullaah 'ala as-Sunnah)
[The following are notes from the Shaykh's highly beneficial advice]
The means for victory against the enemies are known.[1] This talk is in relation to the invasion of the Jews in Palestine.
Allaah said:
Oh you who believe! If you help (in the cause of) Allaah, He will help you, and make yourfoothold firm. (Muhammad, ayah 7)
Likewise, the statement of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم): Be mindful of Allaah (hold onto His Deen, Sharee'ah; don't oppose it), He will protect you... [At-Tirmidhee (no. 2516), Ahmad in al-Musnad (no. 2669), Abu Ya'laa (no. 2549); authenticated by Al-Albaanee]
Hamas is upon the manhaj of (the Kharijee group) Ikhwaan al-Muslimeen, and they never call to the Tawheed of Allaah or 'Aqeedah (that Allaah revealed and commanded with) even though they claim that they are fighting the Jews. In reality, they are not upon the correct 'Aqeedah, so how can they wait for the victory of Allaah to be given to them?[2]
Remember, the victory of Allaah is not by speech or empty slogans or the media that they use. Victory is being upon what is pleasing to Allaah in speech, action and 'Aqeedah. Their (i.e. Hamas') da'wah is not built upon the da'wah of the Salaf, and it is not built upon the da'wah of at-Taa`ifa al-Mansoorah(The Aided Group). The call of the Salaf is the only call that is given victory until the Hour is established.
The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: There will never cease to be a group from my Ummah manifest and victorious upon the truth - unharmed by those who oppose them or forsake them - until the command of Allaah comes and they are upon this state. [Muslim]
This invasion that has been repeated many times over the years, no doubt this is from the calamities that Allaah has tested His slaves with. Allaah has destined for the enemies of Islaam to be against us due to weakness, partisanship, and (as a result of) so many things the Muslims engage in that are against the Deen.
The question remains: are they (Hamas) truly establishing jihaad[3] against the enemies? The reality is that they are as far as can be from Jihaad and calling to Allaah. They know nothing of the fundamentals of Islaam and are the furthest people from Tawheed and establishing the Hudood and Sharee'ah of Allaah. They can't establish the rule of Allaah in Gaza which is nothing but a few kilometers long; they can't do this though it is such a small area. In actuality, they are fighting Allaah (fighting, opposing Allaah's Sharee'ah) and fighting those who are upon what Allaah is pleased with and (fighting) those who follow the Salaf (the Prophet and the Sahaaba).
They (Hamas) are encouraging hizbiyyah[4] and ignorance among the Muslims for the sake of their own hizb which was established upon nothing but disobedience to Allaah and His Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم).
When Imaam Muhammad Nasir-ud-Deen Al-Albaanee (d. 1420H, rahimahullaah) was asked about jihaad in Palestine and other places, he said: Some youth are running away from circles of 'ilm (knowledge) to the intifada. And they rebel against the Jews with rocks and stones... The Intifada which we hear about in Palestine was established upon other than what is pleasing to Allaah. The current movement in Palestine - that is controlled by the Jews - is a movement that is not Islaamic whether you like it or not! Because they never prepared for meeting the enemy according to the Sunnah[5] of Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم). Rather, they are giving the enemy the ways and means to conquer the Muslims and slaughter them like sheep!
It is for military leaders who have been given command by the ruler. It is not for the youth. Those youth must preserve their blood, and stay away from such matters.
Shaykh Muqbil bin Haadee al-Waadi'ee (d. 1422H, rahimahullaah) was asked about the jihaad of the Muslims in Palestine including the movement of Hamas. He (rahimahullaah) said that: The group of Hamas is hizbiyyah and doesn't command the good and forbid evil according to the Sunnah.Rather, it denies the 'Aqeedah and Manhaj of Ahlus-Sunnah!! And even if they gain victory as they claim, they will probably destroy each other like what happened in Afghanistan. [End of summary of Shaykh Muqbil's statement]
Shaykh Ahmad ibn Yahya an-Najmee (d. 1429H, rahimahullaah) said: Hamas is a movement of hizbiyyah and these people object to the da'wah to Allaah, and do not leave the field open for those upon the Sunnah to call to Allaah [i.e. meaning they aim and plot to prevent the call to the Tawheed of Allaah!]. If they ever become in charge, they will destroy the land of Islaam and will destroy whoever revolts against their authority - even if they (falsely) claim that the fight is for justice, equality & all kinds of beautiful banners. In reality this call is nothing but a specific call made up for the Jews and Christians! It is for them and (in Hamas' deviant methodology) there is no freedom, justice or equality for Ahlus-Sunnah. These brilliant banners are only for the (benefit of the) disbelievers.
I warn all my brothers that this group (Hamas) is nothing but a group of bid'ah and hizbiyyah, and can never be tied to the general benefit of the Muslims in any way, shape or form! And because of their (Hamas') corrupt 'Aqeedah, Hamas can never be tied to giving victory to the Muslims.
They use the land of Islaam as merchandise in order to gain more money for their own party. It is upon the Muslims to pay attention to this matter. Hamas is nothing but a hizb and they act according to whims and desires. Their manhaj is to collect the money of the Muslims for their personal gain and they do not spend it upon the general population of Muslims. This is the way of Ikhwaan al-Muslimeen - they take advantage of the calamities of the Muslims to acquire more money. They spend it on themselves and those who support them even though this money was collected for the Muslims.
As they (lyingly) claim in the media - Hamas and other than them are giving victory to the weak from the Muslims. Rather, they are giving victory to the Jews against the Muslims!

[2] This is an extremely important point that Shaykh Khaalid 'Uthmaan brought to attention. Beware of Hamas' deception and pay attention to the following scholarly advice, so that Ahlul-Bid'ah's doubts are reflected away like a mirror - and not absorbed.
Referring to the deviant sects such as Hamas, Ikhwaan Al-Muslimeen, Ihyaa at-Turaath - in Palestine and elsewhere - Shaikh Rabee' Bin Haadee al-Madkhalee (hafidhahullaah 'ala as-Sunnah) insightfully said: "They, by their actions, do not enter into the promise of Allaah to give victory to the believers, nor His promise to grant honor and glory to the believers." As for when the conditions (correct 'aqeedah and manhaj, righteous actions, establishing Tawheed, forbidding Shirk) are met, Shaikh Rabee' said: "Indeed Allaah Himself has undertaken the responsibility of making such a Jihaad successful!" Allaahu akbar!
So don't be deceived by Hamas' claim of awaiting Victory from Allaah. It is feared that this is an attempt to put doubts into the hearts of Muslims. No doubt, the hearts ache at the suffering of the Muslims in Palestine and elsewhere. No doubt! [May Allaah The Almighty curse the Jews and the rest of the disbelievers! Ameen.] However, a major obstacle is the deviance of groups like Hamas and Ikhwaan al-Muslimeen who refuse to submit to the correct 'aqeedah and manhaj and in fact fight those who do, for by Allaah if they had the correct 'aqeedah, Allaah would grant them success - even if they were few.In truth, the same group loudly claiming to await victory is actually the obstacle! Following these notes are scholarly advices on this very matter.
[3] Jihaad is exactly as defined by Allaah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم), the one who did not speak from his own accord: Whoever fights to make the word of Allaah the Uppermost (highest) fights in Allaah's Cause. [Agreed Upon]
Jihaad has a specific intention and it has conditions.
Imaam as-Sa'dee (d. 1376H, rahimahullaah) said: "Only those with complete Eemaan go out in (true, legislated) Jihaad." [Tayseer-ul-Kareem, p.186]
Shaikh Rabee' ibn Haadee al-Madkhalee (hafidhahullaah 'ala as-Sunnah) said: "Indeed Jihaad is required to elevate and make supreme the word of Allaah (La illaaha il-Allaah). However, someone may be killed during efforts of Jihaad, yet he himself enters the Hellfire simply because he did not intend - through his efforts - the elevation of the Word of Allaah, Tabarak wa Ta'aala. The one who fights so that the word of Allaah is made supreme, this is the individual who is truly striving in the path of Allaah.
The Messenger of Allaah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) was asked: One man fights for pride, and one fights for bravery, and another fights seeking recognition by the people - so which of these people fights in the path of Allaah? He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: Whoever fights to make the word of Allaah the Uppermost (highest) fights in Allaah's Cause. [Bukhaaree]" [A LightHouse of Knowledge From a Guardian of the Sunnah]
Shaykh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah (d. 728H, rahimahullaah) said: "...It is obligatory to differentiate between the legislated Jihaad which Allaah and His Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) commanded and the innovated 'Jihaad' which is the 'Jihaad' (waged by) misguided individuals who strive in obedience to Shaytaan, but they believe that they are performing Jihaad in obedience to The Most Merciful (Ar‐Rahmaan). This is like the 'Jihaad' of the people of bid'ah and desires, such as the Khawaarij, and other than them who fight against the people of Islaam."
Is he, then, to whom the evil of his deeds is made fairseeming - so that he considers it as good - (equal to one who is rightly guided)?... (Faatir, ayah 8)
And verily, they (the devils) hinder them from the Path (of Allaah), but they think that they are guided aright! (Az-Zukhruf, ayah 37)
...They are the party of Shaytaan (Satan). Verily, it is the party of Shaytaan (Satan) that will be the losers! (Al-Mujaadilah, ayah 19)
As is clear, true Jihaad is---> striving to make Allaah's Word uppermost. And the reward is tremendous!
Yet sadly Hamas doesn't concern itself with this lofty matter. In fact, they plot against and fight those who do, as has been witnessed throughout the earth. The objectives of Hamas are dunyawee (wordly such as wealth, status, political seats). By Allaah, hypocrisy is feared for the likes of those who refuse to be upon the correct 'aqeedah and manhaj, so what about the deviance of those who additionally plot against and fight those upon the correct 'aqeedah and manhaj and call to Tawheed?!
In actuality, deviant sects like Hamas and Ikhwaan al-Muslimeen are an obstacle in the Muslims' path to success, and the deviant sects are in fact a major reason for much of the Muslims' suffering in Palestine and elsewhere. And Allaah's Help is sought! Allaah is All-Knowing, All-Aware, and He is The only Judge on the Day of Judgement. And Allaah will judge all of mankind and jinn by what He revealed to His Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) - not by the false beliefs and methodologies and principles of deviants and revolutionists such as Sayyid Qutb, Hasan al-Banna the Soofi Ikhwanee, 'Alaa Mawdudi, Nabahanee, or the Raafidah, or the Soofis or the Tableeghis, or the Murji'ah, or the Qadariyah, or the Mu'tazilah, or the Jahmeeyah, or the Ash'areeyah! Allaah will judge mankind and jinn from this nation of Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) by what He revealed to Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) - Qur`aan and Sunnah.
[4] On the authority of Abu Hurrairah (radiAllaahu Ta'aala 'anhu): Allaah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: Whosoever fights under the banner of the blind, becoming angry for party-spirit,* or calling to party-spirit, or assisting party-spirit, then if he dies (in that state), he dies a death of jaahiliyyah (pre-Islaamic ignorance). [Muslim (6/21)]
* Hizbiyyah is the modern counterpart of this 'asabiyah (partisanship and party spirit) that Allaah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) severely warned against. The people of knowledge have defined Hizbiyyah as: Loyalty or allegiance to an individual or group (who is, or that is) in opposition to the Qur`aan and Sunnah, and having al-walaa` (alliance) wal-baraa` (and disassociation) for them.
[5] In the language, the word Sunnah means a way, a path. In the Sharee'ah, the wordSunnah refers to the Prophet's (صلى الله عليه وسلم):
- statements,
- actions,
- tacit approvals,*
- his leaving off what he left off,
- his characteristics and appearance.
Some of which are obligatory, such as: Ash-Shahadatayn, having the correct 'aqeedah and manhaj, thefive obligatory prayers, Zakat, Hajj, fasting Ramadan, obedience to parents, growing the beard, Hijab for the sisters, returning the salaam.
And some of which are recommended, such as: the optional prayers, optional fasting, using themiswak, beginning the salaam.
The Sahaaba and the rest of the Salaf-us-saleh (the pious predecessors of the first three generations, radiallaahu Ta'aala 'anhum) used the word Sunnah to refer to the Prophet's 'aqeedah (creed, belief) and manhaj (methodology), and also to refer to Islaam in its entirety.
* The tacit approvals are what the sahaaba did in the presence of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) that he approved of by not refuting it, since he was sent to correct and refute the errors.
[6] At the end, the shaykh said: Boycotting the products of the Jews is not from the manhaj of Ahlus Sunnah. Keep in mind that the Muslims are broken up in several countries and are not under a unified leadership. So to boycott the products of kuffaar is not from the way of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) or his Companions but from the way of hizbiyyah. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) himself never commanded to boycott the Jews when the fitnah broke out in Madeenah. The people continued to trade and deal with one another. So instead of forbidding and refuting Shirk and bid'ah, Ahlul-Bid'ah want to boycott products such as foods sold by Jews. As previously mentioned, Hamas is an Ikhwanee group - an off-shoot of the Kharijee group which tries to hide itself under the name Ikhwaanul Muslimeen, but Allaah has refused except to expose them. From these Ikhwanees are those who say with their own tongues that the Jews and Christians are believers and their brothers!!, and from them is a deviant Innovator named Yusuf Al-Qaradawee who additionally says: "The enmity that is between us and the Jews is for the sake of land only, not for the sake of the religion." [al-Ummah al-Islaamiyyah Haqeeqah, Laa Wahm, p.70]
Allaahu akbar! Allaahu akbar! What liars Qaradawee and Ikhwaanul Muslimeen are.
The Jews are the adherents to the innovated, fabricated Judaistic Religion which Moosa (Moses, 'alayhi salaam) was never ever ever upon nor ever called to. The only Religion that Allaah ever revealed - and His Prophets ever called to - was Islaam. The Jews disbelieve in Allaah and commit kufr by: calling upon the jinn in their common practice of (sihr) magic; the Jews refuse to enter Islaam; the Jews disbelieve in the messengership of Muhammad - صلى الله عليه وسلم - and therefore Moosa and all the Prophets ('alayhimu salaam); the Jews disbelieve in the messengership of 'Eesa (Jesus, 'alayhi salaam); the Jews disbelieve in the Qur`aan (and therefore the Torah); the Jews disbelieve in the Injeel (Gospel); the Jews hate Jibreel (The Spirit); some of the Jews attrribute a son ('Uzair) to The One Who neither begets nor is begotten; the Jews say Allaah is poor and we are rich; the Jews say Allaah's hands are tied - may their hands be tied! - and the earlier Jews killed Prophets, and with all that Kufr upon Kufr upon Kufr, Qaradawee says the Jews are "believers" and their "brothers," and Qaradawee additionally says, "The enmity that is between us and the Jews is for the sake of land only, not for the sake of the religion."
Aoodhubillaah! Refuge in Allaah is taken from meeting Allaah with the wicked statements and wicked beliefs of Qaradawee and the Ikhwanees!!
As Shaykh Khaalid 'Uthmaan said: "they are as far as can be from Jihaad and calling to Allaah!"
Read what Allaah revealed about this precise matter of walaa` wal barra` (love and hatred, or association and disassociation):
You (oh Muhammad) will Not find any people who believe in Allaah and the Last Day making friendship with those who oppose Allaah and His Messenger (Muhammad), even though they were their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred (people). For such (those who believe, and love and hate for Allaah's sake), He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with Rooh (proofs, light and true guidance) from Himself. And We will admit them to Gardens (Paradise), under which rivers flow, to dwell therein (forever). Allaah is pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the Party of Allaah. Verily, it is the Party of Allaah that will be the successful. (Al-Mujaadilah, ayah 22)
The grandson of Muhammad Ibn 'Abdul-Wahhab (d. 1206H, rahimahumullaah), Sulaymaan Ibn 'Abdullaah Ibn Muhammad Ibn 'Abdul-Wahhab (d. 1233H, rahimahumullaah) said: "Allaah 'Azza wa Jall said that you shall Not find a person who believes in Allaah and in the hereafter befriending those who oppose Allaah and His Messenger, even if they were the closest people to him, and that is against Eeman and opposite to it since it cannot exist along with Eeman except in the way water and fire coexist (it is impossible)." And yet people with the 'aqeedah of Qaradawee - such as Hamas and the rest of the Ikhwanees - are brazen enough to loudly claim they are awaiting victory. Don't be deceived! These people are deviants. They have no right to expect victory. May Allaah rescue the sincere Muslims and the innocent children from Hamas and Ikhwaanul Muslimeen and the Jews! Ameen!
Allaah's Help is sought!
