Ten Reasons for the Removal of Punishment from the Servant of Allaah
Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahiamhullah) mentioned ten reasons for the removal of punishment from the servant of Allaah.
*The first reason: Repenting to Allaah.
*The second reason: Seeking Allaah's forgiveness.
*The third reason: The good deeds which wipe out the bad deeds.
*The fourth reason which repels the punishment: The supplication of the believers for the believer.
*The fifth reason: That which is done for the dead from the righteous actions.
*The sixth reason: The intercession of the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) and other than Him for the people of sin on the Day of Standing.
*The seventh reason: The calamities by which Allaah expiates the sins (of the servant) in the life of this world.
*The eighth reason: That which takes place in the grave from the trials, tribulations, the squeezing (of the servant therein), and the fright (that the servant experiences therein).
*The ninth reason: The terror of the Day of Standing along with its difficulties and hardships (that the servant experiences on that day).
*The tenth reason: The mercy of Allaah, His pardoning, and His forgiveness for the servants without any reason from the servants themselves (to receive it).
