The Salaf And The First 10 Days

GOING OUT TO THE MARKETPLACE AND MAKING THE TAKBIR(1):
Shaykh Ibn Baaz  رحمه الله said:
"Muslim reported in his saheeh, and Bukharee mentioned it in his saheeh (by way of ) تعليقا from ibn 'Umar and Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنهما "They use to go out to the Sooq(marketplace) on the 10 days and they would make the takbir (Say Allaahu Akbar) and the people would make the takbir (also).

RAISING ONE'S VOICE WHILE MAKING THE TAKBIR:
'Umar ibn Al-Khattab and his son 'Abdallah رضي الله عنهما use to make the takbir in the day of Mina in the Masjid and in the tent and raise their voices with that. Mina would shake with their takbir.

RESTRICTING THE TAKBIR UNTIL AFTER EACH SALAAH:
It is reported from the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم  and from a group of the companions رضي الله عنهم they would make the takbir at the end of the Five (daily) prayers from Salatul Fajr on the day of 'Arafah to Salatul 'Asr(2) on the 13th day of Dhul Hijjah and this was other than in Hajj...

TN: From the above, we can derive the following benefits:
  • It is Sunnah to raise the voices.
  • The takbir is unrestricted to anytime during Dhul Hijjah.
  • The takbir is not only restricted to Hajj, the Masjid and or the tents during Hajj.
  • It is (a forgotten) sunnah to make the takbir amongst the people in the marketplace.
  • When one revives the Sunnah, others will follow him in that. As we see from the actions of the companions in the marketplace.
  • The takbir is also restricted to after every prayer starting after fajr on the day of Arafah, until Asr of the 13th day of Dhul Hijjah.
