Raising the Hands During the Du'aa of Qunoot

Q:  Is raising the hands during the du'aa of qunoot from the Sunnah?  Please mention the daleel.

A:  Yes, it is from the Sunnah for a person to raise his hands during the du'aa of qunoot, because that has been reported from the Prophet - sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam - in his qunoot when he used to make qunoot in the obligatory prayers during calamities.  It has also been authentically narrated that Ameer  Al-Momineen, Umar Ibn Al-Khattaab - radhiyallaahu anhu - raised his hands in the qunoot of witr, and he is one of the Rightly Guided Khulafaa' who we have been commanded to follow.

So raising the hands during the qunoot of witr is Sunnah, regardless of whether one is an Imaam, a follower, or by himself.  So whenever you make qunoot, raise your hands.
