Abu Talha, A Defender of the Sunnah: http://www.salafitalk.com/threads/657-Abu-Talhah-Dawud-Burbank-and-his-Wife-have-Died

* In reference to the Prophetic du'aa which includes the statement of Allaah's Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam): ...Oh Allaah! You are The First (al-Awwal), so there is nothing before You; and You are The Last (al-Aakhir), so there is nothing after You; and You are The Most High, (adh-Dhaahir), so there is nothing above You; and You are The Nearest (al-Baatin) so there is nothing nearer than You... [Muslim 4/2084]

The Salaf (radiallaahu 'anhum) said: The Meaning of 'al-Baatin' is 'the Closest to Everything With His Knowledge' Whilst He is Above His Throne. For a scholarly explanation of this Perfect Ayah from Soorat al-Hadeed, click here.

** Concerning the explanation of the difference between Ar-Rahmaan and Ar-Raheem that Abu Talhah relayed, it's not clear from the audio (27:31 mark) whom this statement was attributed to. Some from the Salaf (radiallaahu 'anhum) have said: Allaah is Ar-Rahmaan with all the creation, and Ar-Raheem with the believers. [At-Tabari 1:127, via Tafseer of Imaam Ibn Katheer]
