Those Foremost in Tawheed and Performing Acts of Righteousness will be Foremost in the Hereafter
Allaah, Ta'aala, said:
وَالسَّابِقُونَ
السَّابِقُونَ
And those foremost (in
Tawheed and in performing righteous deeds) will be foremost (in Paradise). (Al-Waqi'ah, ayah 10) Is about the
Prophets, 'alayhimi salaam, while As-Suddi said that they are the residents
of the utmost highs (Ahl Al-'Illiyyin, in Paradise). The meaning of foremost is
that they were foremost in performing the acts of righteousness just as Allaah
commanded them:
وَسَارِعُوا إِلَى مَغْفِرَة مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَجَنَّةٍ
عَرْضُهَا السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالأَرْضُ أُعِدَّتْ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
And march forth in the way (which leads to) forgiveness from your
Lord, and for Paradise as wide as are the heavens and the earth, prepared for
Al-Muttaqoon. (Aali 'Imran, ayah
133)
سَابِقُوا إِلَى
مَغْفِرَة مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَجَنَّةٍ عَرْضُهَا كَعَرْضِ السَّمَاءِ
وَالأَرْضِ أُعِدَّتْ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِه ذَلِكَ فَضْلُ
اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيه مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ
Race one with another in
hastening towards Forgiveness from your Lord (Allaah), and towards Paradise, the
width whereof is as the width of heaven and earth, prepared for those who
believe in Allaah and His Messengers. That is the Grace of Allaah which He
bestows on whom He pleases. And Allaah is the Owner of Great Bounty. (Al-Hadid, ayah 21)
Therefore, those who
rush to obey Allaah in this life and are foremost in performing acts of
righteousness will be among the foremost believers honored in the Hereafter.
Verily, the reward is according to the kind of deed, and as one does, so he is
judged.
So Allaah said:
أُوْلَـئِكَ
الْمُقَرَّبُونَ فِى جَنَّـتِ النَّعِيمِ
These will be the nearest (to Allaah). In the Gardens of Delight. (Al-Waqi'ah, ayat 11-12)
